Moleskine, I love you...

This past year I tested out a new planner. And I am in love. I never had a planner I used so much and actually liked so much. The nice thing about it is it's compact and simple and easy to take with me wherever I go. During school, it fits in the little pocket of my Timbuk2 bag (another product I love). Anyway, the only improvement I thought could make it better would be to have a tiny address book to fit in the back pocket. I looked online and found that the 2009 planners come with just that. I am excited to get next years version of my moleskine. (That's mole-ah skeen-ah) As far as I can tell moleskines have developed a following. I'm not going to join a club or anything. I just really like them. Don't worry Fran. You're still #1 for me.

New Post...

A quickie for all of my many fans.

I've been enjoying my humongous break. I think it started near the beginning of May and classes still haven't started yet. So, I decided to delve into reading about starting an optometry practice and I'm finding that one, it's a lot of work, and two, I need to first determine a location. (The sooner I start looking the better). So, if you have any suggestions, send them my way. California (northern) is attractive, Washington state, Canada, etc... My only problem is that I don't like hot places too much. But, family is all settling around Elice in AZ, so I may have to consider AZ too.

P.S. I got into my Masters program I was trying to get into. Now, I'm aiming for a combined degree. Wish me luck. Our first little baby S. could be born anytime soon.

Seinfield Pizza episode....

Remember that seinfield episode when he goes to his girlfriend's father's restaurant and notices that her father didn't wash his hands after going to the bathroom? I remember that he kept looking at the fathers hands as he touched the dough, he was so disgusted he couldn't eat the pizza and he couldn't tell his girlfriend why.

Well, Fran and I have eaten a couple of times at these little Turkish food stands and each time I've noticed they don't wear gloves when touching your food. Today, we ordered Lahmacun, a really tasty kind of a flavorful pita wrap. I noticed the guy didn't have gloves on again. The worst part was that he was nice enough to help when Fran's change spilled everywhere. I watched him dig under the food stand for a €1 piece, then go back and poke the same hand all over our food he was preparing. I just kept watching his hand, he never washed it once. It was pretty disgusting. However, not disgusting enough to keep me from eating more than half of the Lahmacun myself.

Beach, beach, beach...

So, we've spent more time at the beach, reading, swimming, burning, finding hermit crabs, fish (fische auf Deutsch), and other sea life. I have pictures but it's difficult to get them on here in 2 minutes. Anyway, life is good. I'm sleeping lots, eating lots and swimming lots and not worrying at all about school. It's perfect (perfekt auf Deutsch). You can see how easy German is.

Καλημέρα (Good Morning)

I've only learned a little Greek, and I actually only copied and pasted "Kalimeira" in the title. It's interesting trying to learn German and make sense of written greek all the time. I usually just revert back to English. It's definitely easier, especially after a long day of driving around the island.

We are on the island Κέρκυρα (kerkyra known as Corvu in english) we drove from Lefkimi to Paleokastritsa then to Corvu Town, the main city on the island of Kerkyra. It looks like wikipedia has a good map of the island. Anyway, we saw a really neat monastery (Monastery of the Virgin Mary, aren't they all?), the entrance of two forts (everything was closed Sunday) and a half deserted city. It was really fun and reminded me of Portugal.

My first impression of Greek cities is that they are half nice, half run-down, and half finished. It was fun. We have some cool pictures, but will have to post later (prob. when we're back in Germany).

Now we must run because we're so busy. (Sitting in the sand and swimming).

Love you guys.

Henry & Fran.
